Building Stronger Communities Together

At AGL, we believe in more than just bricks and mortar.

We’re committed to creating lasting impact in the communities we work in – transforming spaces, supporting local residents, and making a difference where it matters most.

Giving Back Through Action

We’re proud to work alongside residents, councils, and local organisations to deliver meaningful improvements, including:

Community Garden Project

What was once a neglected communal space has been turned into a vibrant community garden, co-created with local residents.

We transformed the area by installing:

Planting beds and a greenhouse
A hardstanding area with benches and a wormery
A welcoming, accessible environment for all
Resident-Led Transformation

We collaborated closely with homeowners and tenants to design a space they truly wanted – ensuring community involvement every step of the way.

Our Commitment:

15 residents actively participated
80 hours volunteered by our AGL team
Materials and time generously donated by local subcontractors and suppliers
Ongoing support with 6 monthly tea and coffee mornings to keep the community spirit alive

After

Woodland Regeneration Project

When land with protected trees was donated back to the community, we stepped in to bring it back to life.

What We Did:

Cleared fly-tipping, hazardous waste, and environmental hazards (including needles and asbestos)
Reinstated brick boundary walls
Installed secure metal railings and gates
Cut back overgrowth and laid a safe 40-metre woodland path
Planted new trees and restored natural beauty

Ongoing Support:
We return annually to maintain the area and ensure it remains safe, clean, and accessible for everyone.

After

Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour Project

Local residents were feeling unsafe due to groups of youths loitering near garage areas. Rather than simply moving the problem elsewhere, we chose to engage and understand.

Our approach:

Spoke directly with local teenagers to understand their needs
With council approval, we installed football pitches and goalposts near the local park
The Result:

A safer, more positive environment for residents and a space for young people to enjoy. The feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive.

Supporting Local Schools

We’re passionate about helping young people thrive. That’s why we actively support schools across Havering, Thurrock, and Redbridge.

Our Initiatives Include:

Supplying mud kitchens for creative outdoor play
Creating vegetable growing areas so students can learn through nature
Hosting CV writing workshops and careers advice sessions at local secondary schools
Offering 1 apprenticeship opportunity every year
Providing at least 3 work experience placements annually

Why We Do It

We live and work in the same communities we build in and we understand that thriving local spaces benefit everyone.

By sharing our skills and taking pride in every project, we hope to leave a positive and lasting impact.
